Rob Roy Bill of Materials

LUMBER: All lumber is "four quarter" lumberyard stock, usually finished to 3/4" net thickness. All widths are net, while all lengths allow for cutting to fit. All lumber sizes should be checked to the work before purchasing. When long lengths are not available, splices may be made by a scarf joint of 1:12 ratio; full length members are desirable for this hull. All lumber should be free from knots, splits, and other defects. Mahogany refers to "dark red" Philippine or central American varieties. Spruce (Sitka), Douglas-fir, white oak, and similar woods used for boat construction may be substituted.
PLYWOOD: All plywood must be intended for marine use. The most desiralbe material to use because of its lightweight is okoume marine plywood.
