Fig. 21 Allow the resin filler coat to cure thoroughly before sanding. Use finishing resin for the filler or add surfacing agent to the resin in order for the surface to cure tack free to make sanding easier. In the filler application, build up an extra heavy coating around corner areas where sanding tends to remove material too quickly thereby causing gouges in the laminate in these areas.



Fig. 22 Sand the filler coated surface as fair and even as possible. A disc sander fitted with a semi-soft or flexible pad works well for most areas, although a belt sander can be used to advantage over flatter areas. White areas from the filler show low areas while clear spaces indicate high areas where most of the filler has been removed. Color of the filler will vary depending upon the type or brand used.
