Dear Boatbuilders,
After the 69th day of hard halfaday working process, we finished today the
tricky bent Bulwark, also made from 10mm AW100 Mahaghoni/Okume plywood. The
sharp roundings aft and also at the bow we have laminated with 3 x 3mm
Mahaghoni sheets. As you see I have done the Bulwark something lighter and
narrower than the original drawing to keep total weight lighter. Four nice
heavy bronze "Klüsen" are build in, ready to take the lines. (
www.toplicht.de) The next problem is that our 2 Zyl. Sole Engine
(www.sole-diesel.com), a pretty nice lightweight 16 HP diesel with dry stack
and keelcooling (not a lot of them still on the market), is now nearly 1 foot
forward than in the drawings. For this reason I will go foreward with the whole
Pilothouse and forget the side seats in the cabin. As well, we don't want
to lose room in the cockpit, where we plan an L-shape seat portside aft. Next
week we plan to fit the engine on her place as well the stainless steel rudder
skeg and rudder. Then we will begin with the interior and forward cabindeck, as
well a flexible watertank ( 120 ltr) under the bed and the famous toilet under
the bed ( what happens then at 0300 morning ?) We will see...
yours,
Capt. Thomas
