Ready for Trials!

Touches water for the first time. She floats!

Under tow heading for the lake

Under sail for her trials

Her colours are white and green

My daughter has been working up the graphics and when her name is ready for the hull we will have the commissioning ceremony to officially receive her name. She will at that point receive the name Sparrow.

My daughters all loved the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and Capt. Jack Sparrow. I liked the name as it was the name of the first command of Captain Richard Bolitho in a series of books by Alexander Kent (excellent reading!)

The image on our sail is a drawing done by my daughter of the tattoo Capt. Sparrow has on his arm in the movie. She works part time at a company that has the ability to do embroidery, screen printing etc. We obtained material normally used for sail numbers from the sail maker. She did all the layout work and then had the machine cut the image. The result was then transferred to the sail (mirror image on both sides).

We think she ended up looking pretty good!

At Anchor

This has been a great experience. The quality of the drawings and plans is fantastic. If you take your time and exam the plans, patterns and instruction documents the build is quite straight forward. The photos in the documentation, coupled with the information provided on your website and from other fellow builders certainly provides a support environment where anyone can build a boat with confidence.

Thanks to everyone in your organization.
