Dear Sirs,
Enclosed, please find pictures of my recently completed Glen-L 8 ball. 1 was
disappointed with the web site owners pictures as few show any detail and the
owners seemed to have used leftover wood, scraps, etc. for hull and sails. I am
very pleased with the results achieved using Glen-L supplies and following the
recommendations. The marine plywood in my area is Philippine mahogany so I
matched it with the 3/4" lumber.
I used real sitka spruce for the mast which was rather hard to find and costly
but worth it. I am very impressed with the oars you supplied from New Zealand.
Local oars are no comparison. Poxy-shield was used to wet out the fiberglass
covering. After fairing, an epoxy spray paint, meant for kitchen appliances,
was used with good results. It took me approximately 3 to 4 months to build,
after work on weekdays and on Saturdays.
She sails very handily even with me and my wife aboard, and rows smoothly and
easily. When we motor, I wish my arm was longer, I guess I need an extension
for the outboard handle. I am sure she would plane if I could get more weight
forward.
I anticipate getting a larger craft soon to carry 8-ball. Enjoy the pictures,
they are yours to share.
