14 June 2004 Here's the latest update. Top deck is striped, and has the first coat of epoxy on it. I need to build up a couple of layers so that the striping can't be felt and is totally smooth. I plan 3 to 4 more layers of epoxy, sanded down between each layer before I clear coat. I have also painted out the sides with a scallop in the front. This was done because I had a spot that required sanding down below the top veneer on fairing. The aft end also is painted out to allow the boat name and the fact that there was a butt joint in the plywood that couldn't be hidden. I didn't want 2 joints visible on the side. This was the plan all along, as I didn't get 16' plywood. Here's a shot of the top deck, maybe hard to see the bookmatched mohagany, but it is. Several more coats of epoxy, and then a couple coats of clear coat, and it's off to get upholstered. I'm going to have it done professionally this time rather than doing it myself as on my Zip.
