Here is a few more pics of my scarfs on the Double Eagle project. I had a hard time with scarfs joints, if I glued them on a bench ahead of time, they tend to flatten out on the curves. Here is how I got the curves in the wide ply scarfs. I joined the scarfs in place on the hull, and screwed a plywood strap on the outside. Kitchen wrap is a good release agent.
I screwed from the inside out with some backer blocks between the battens.
With the scarfs sandwiched between the strap and the blocks, they come out very smooth to the curve of the hull.
