12 November 2007 Here is a few pics of the later stages of the build, rushing to make the Gathering.
To locate the engine beds, I suspended the engine from 3 pieces of threaded rod, from beams across the gunnels. I got a dummy shaft from my prop shop to use for preliminary alignment.
With the engine suspended from 3 points, I got the alignment as close as possible.
Now it was an easy deal to mount the beds to the stringers.
In a hurry to make the Gathering, I cobbled together a prototype console. I got the basic lines from the study plans of 'Atlantic Skiff'. Since I stretched the boat plans 10%, I enlarged the console lines 10% also. Seems to work good so far.
First engine test in place, in the hull. The engine had been run previously on a skid, with a outboard gas tank. I am still using the outboard tank. A garden hose is feeding the raw water pump.
My main man Stu, with some last minute tweeking. |
