Pine blocking will be required on the bow piece, extending from sheer to sheer. This blocking must be faired to form the curvature or crown of the decking as it ends on the bow piece.


The longitudinals are fastened in position, notching into athwarship members. Observe the blocking used at the junctions of the carling (fore and aft piece on either side of cockpit opening) with the #1 and #3 deck beams.


After fairing, the decking is fitted similarly to the bottom planking. Butt joints on the deck were done prior to installation.

Typically the next step would be to fiberglass the outside of the hull, although it can be painted without fiberglassing if the builder desires. Decorative pieces called coamings, cap the carling, and deck beams. On the test model these pieces were mahogany and were finished naturally. The boom, rudder, and daggerboard are made using the patterns. The Glen-L 10 Hardware Kit supplies the deck hardware, gudgeon and pintles, and blocks. Although the plans detail construction for a wooden mast, most builders order the Gln-L 10 Aluminum Spar Kit because of its lighter weight and ease of maintenance.
