Jacuzzi engineers, incidentally, caution against the indiscriminate placing of this power unit in just any hull. The TNT was chosen because its particular bottom design is ideally suited for jet operation. A flat bottom, for instance, would cause the jet intake to suck in more air than water and performance would be killed. Mini-Jet handles well. She can turn almost inside her own length and operates in satisfactory fashion in reverse. The frame kit and plans set from Glen L were a big help in putting this tiny bombshell together. The transom, assembled and gusseted frames, breasthook, stem and transom knee come ready to be used. The kit, complete with plans, step-by-step instructions and a materials list, costs $58 from Glen L Marine Designs, 9152 E. Rosecrans, Bellflower, Calif. Fastening kits, in either galvanized or bronze, are available for $15 and $35, respectively. The galvanized kit was used with the MI boat since it will be run only in fresh water. Additional materials, including plywood for the bottom, sides and deck, and paints ran about $75. The modifications shown in the accompanying illustration are relatively minor to make but are vitally important to installation of the power package and performance. The dropped keel, in particular, should be strictly adhered to.
