Shop talk: Fairing jig
As you can see, my little attachment holds the plane at the proper angle between one knuckle and the adjacent one. The simple wood fixture is doweled and epoxied to make it strong. The cast-iron plane is drilled and tapped for two 1/4-20 screws, actually one stud and one cap screw, to fasten the wood to the plane.
