It's launch time for Bob the boat builder
HUNSDON: A village couple have finally realized their dream of owning
a boat after spending more than 12,000 hours over seven years building it
themselves.
On Saturday, Bob and Sue Warner, of Drury Lane, saw their
pride and joy Mummy Sue finally launched into water at Woolverston in
Ipswich.
The boat was christened by local vicar the Rev John Risby in
Hunsdon before it was transported to its new home.
"There were lots of people there and about 30 followed us to Ipswich to
see it launched into the water," said Sue.
The idea came about back in 1995 when Bob and Sue were on
holiday in the Algarve, Portugal.
The couple were taking a stroll by the local marina when they
saw their dream mahogany trawler boat.
Sue said: "Bob asked me where we could buy a boat like that because it
looked priceless.
"Owning a boat has always been a dream so I said to him
'You've seen the boat in your dreams, build it'."
On their return, carpenter and
French polisher, Bob set the wheels in motion to build his vessel and
collected a number of plans from design companies.
