For details about the transom see "Shop Talk: Vacuum Bagged Mahogany Transom" in this WebLetter. I am building as an inboard center console sport fisherman setup. I intend to go to inshore & close offshore, and decided the Double Eagle for the "salty" bow and forward sections. At least to me, a lobster boat looks salty, as in it is more suitable for salt water work than many other designs. I chose conventional inboard power because I am tired of chasing saltwater out of outboard lower units. The plans notes, as well as computer prop programs, indicate I can expect ~25kts with my 3.0L Chevy with 2:1 gear. See WebLetter 56 for 3.0L inboard conversion notes. By deleting the cabin I hope to gain a couple more knots. |
