The final look is very different with these products. Sikkens tends to turn orangish and does not have the smooth shiny look of varnish. Varnish is more work as it doesn't have the longevity of Sikkens, and similar products. I have always used varnish becasue of the nice classic look, but have friends who swear by the other products. If looks is what you are after, use varnish. If time is limited and the boat will be subjected to a lot of weather then use the other stuff. Keith
