: Hi.
: Do unopened resin and hardener's have a shelf life?

Well Well! good ol' west systems! I have stopped using west sys. because I think their marketing, well, leaves much to be desired. I have stored their product for a few years, no problems with the resin, but the hardner reacted with the can and ate a hole in it! Talk about blush! this was super blush! as it turned red. Hehe while there is no problem with an oxidized hardner, other than it is no longer clear, the hole it ate cost me money due to loss! all this could have been avoided if they used a plastic container, I now use systems 3 as it is a bit cheaper, has varied lot sizes, and is easier to measure. I dont rcommend storeing hardener in a metal can, tranfer it to plastic, cleaned pop bottles are good, wrap in foil if exposed to light. I have seen other hardeners become red, it is a reaction to the metal in the prescence of moisture, but it's claimed that there is no adverse effects to functionality.
