Actually, I found the wiring to be one of the more interesting parts of boatbuilding. It can be a bit on the time-consuming side, but it is very rewarding work.
The biggest challenge for me was getting out of "airplane" mode; I used to work in aircraft maintenance, and with metal airplanes, every electrical component is grounded to the frame (as in automobiles). I had to learn to think in terms of "return path" wiring.
Before taking your boat to a professional, I would urge you to try it yourself.
