"Slings" probably a better idea for the home boater! The "lifting eyes" on V-8, were from my inboard V-8 racing boat days, and now as I recall - they had three (3) steel eyes bolted to both V-8 block and to boat's hull stringers! If you could do this - it beats straps hands-down. (you also need a crane handy, to do the lift! :)

: Don't they use slings instead of hooks? I can't think of seeing ANY boat with lift eyes that I'd trust. Runabouts typically have a bow eye and transom eyes for trailer tie-down, ski-ropes, towing, etc. I'd never let anyone lift the whole boat with them.
