The efficientcy of the machine would be greatly reduced by being on a soft surface. A long moment would probably help. Enclose the hull on both ends to prevent the launch from sinking the craft. A considerable ballast would also help stabelize the craft. Anchoring would be another crucial factor... unless you are shooting and retreating at the same time.
