I can address the motorwell width. I measured the extent to which my steering linkage extended when the wheel was fully turned and it exceeded the plan dimension of the motorwell. I modified it to be a few inches wider than needed. I can't remember exactly off-hand but I think the width of the transom cutout/motorboard is now 32". I'll measure it when I get home and if it's different I'll post a follow-up. That creates a few other modifications such as ending the long beams into the face of the motorboard instead of along the edges. I haven't built the aft bulkhead yet but I think the cut-outs will have to be shifted so the forward ends of the motorwell sides will meet solid wood at the bulkhead. Probably a few other modifications will be required as well.
I think one of the newsletters addressed this problem last year and one builder had to make a funky cut-out for the steering linkage. I remember there was a picture with the article.
As far as routing the cables, I am planning to do the same thing that you described (running an angled conduit from the console to the rear corner). Surely someone else has encountered this rigging problem? What did y'all do?
