I'm assuming you fellows are discussing a "splashwell" which is typical on modern outboard ski boats, generally reinforcing the transom and rising to sheer heighth to discourage following water from coming inboard. When the term "motorwell" is used, I thought that meant an inboard well as used on a variety of pacific dories which is basically an inboard mini-transom that houses the outboard about halfway between midships and stern?

: I'm building the Glen-L "Outrage". I've turn the hull over and now starting on the inside work... Here's one for you... What is the purpose/function of the motorwell? This structure takes up a lot of space on the inside of the baot and I'm not even sure what it's purpose is... Boy do I feel clueless. Although, I never have owned a speed/ski boat before.
