I think you should use the 50hp on the skiff. Not because I'm worried about the 70 on it but because if you're like most of us, you will want to build an even bigger boat after you're done with the skiff. Then you'll be all set to use the nicer 70hp motor on your next boat.
(By the way, if it's just laying around in your way, I'll take it off your hands - ha ha)
