: Standard procedure to prolong an epoxy finish from UV is to cover it with a spar varnish containing UV absorbers. This will have to be renewed every two years or so. Paint provides absolute protection aginst UV.
EPOXY Paint for sure - does have HIGH sensitivity to sunlight, and water plus sunlight! I have a ROUSTABOUT Glen L design, painted with Epoxy paint in 79. For last 20 years - light blue epoxy paint (Defender), has CHAULKED, given off a white POWDER, can be waxed - but chalking comes back ALWAYS!!! No one has ever explained this to me!? After 23 years, hull paint has finally just about chalked itself to zero!!!! IS THIS STILL THE CASE WITH 2002 "Epoxy Paint"!!!???
