Jim.....Pitch is a very important part of a propeller. Especially when you have an rpm, and speed targeted. In large craft the diameter is most important as it is the size of the blade that is most important with slip and the ability to effeciently move water. There is also a correlation between the prop diameter and the pitch of the prop. In an earlier post I mentioned a web page that has a work sheet to plug the values in and come up with the correct propeller. Then if the prop has to be altered to fine tune it to the specific boat remember that 1" of diameter is approx. equal to 2" of pitch when thinking of a change from the original propeller.
: In these responses, nobody mentions pitch! It's my impression that pitch is more important than diameter, especially since diameter is limited by clearance.
