I made a hydroplane model a few years ago from scratch- spent 2 months sanding, fairing, getting the thing "absolutely mirrorlike perfect"; filled the "dead areas" of the hull w/ sprayfoam from a can (in case of crashing, I didn't want to loose the radio equipment, engine, etc.) Got home from work the next day & found I had a wooden "sausage" on the desk!!! Sprayfoam all over the desk where it had "squirted" out the blown-out seams. :-(

If you do decide on expandofoam, go SLOW! spray a small line in, wait for a few hours/overnight & spray some more on top of that....... Whatever you do, don't try to "fill in that last little crack up there"!!!! That's the one that'll bring tears to your eyes!

If you're sold on foam for floatation, I'd go with sheet styrene cut to fit- like the sheets sold at homecenters/lumberyards for foundation/basement insulation. Just a thought...
