Colin -
Wonder what application would require an "auto transmission", especially of the Chevy 350 V-8 size? Most marine transmissions, while beefy, are also quite simple - forward, neutral, reverse. Most of the larger powered power boats - underway, act like they are in "2nd gear" all the time. I had a Volvo I/O attached to a Mustang 200hp V-8, and it too sounded like it was in 2nd gear all the time. Sort of comes with the territory I think. You'd probably have to come up with some way of "locking" the automatic transmission in one of the lower gears - else its normal shifting under load, would kill it quickly! Good luck. Power boats, underway, especially when you
want to make some time, are like going "up hill" all the time - thus one reason
they get such bad gas mileage! :)
: Does anyone know anything about converting an auto transmission (t-350 chevy) for marine use? Someone told me that the valve body would have to be modified. Is this true? Any thoughts are appreciated.
