Greetings!
As I prepare to cut wood on my second Glen-L boat (a Gypsy--my first was a Console Skiff), I'm also thinking ahead to trailiering her once she is complete. While I bought an "off-the-shelf" trailer for my first boat, I'm thinking about building one this time around (a Glen-L 3800 series). A few questions for anyone who has gone the same route:
--Do you have any cost comparisons between buying and building?
--Did you do the welding yourself or have it done by a professional welder/welding shop?
--If it was the latter, did you just take the plans to the welder and say, "Please build this frame", or did you cut the pieces yourself and take them to be welded? (or, in a variation on that theme, did you lay them out in your shop and have the welder come to you?)
Any help/advice would be most appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of any web sites that give purchased trailer prices, please share those; it seems that most of the ones I've been able to find seem rather reluctant to say how much their trailers cost--that always makes me nervous!
Thank you in advance!
