Before using Kevlar on anything that will come in contact with water, check it's tendencies to wick water through abrasions in the surface coating. At one time I worked for a company that manufactures large commercial jetliners, rumor has it that any area under the aircraft that has the chance of being dinged by rocks from the runway will not have Kevlar. Water will wick into the fibers and cause a delamination. Like I said this is rumor and I can't check it because I am no longer employed there. I suggest interogating your Kevlar supplier very carefully.
