I finished a Bull's Eye in October of last year and have been sailing her as a sloop since. I built her
with some very attractive mohagany ply and got an excellent finish with the cloth and epoxy--I used
Ciba Geigy which was the only thing available--leaving her bright and unpainted.
I've only rowed her once and she is quite stable and light, her transom can get a bit pushed about
with a following wave. She sails niceley. With a handheld GPS, she sails in 10-15 knots in the high
4's. I sailed her in the Gulf of Guinea in a heavy breeze and got her planing without much trouble.
We've loaded 2 adults and 3 children in her but she was pretty low in the water.
Our boat has a solid wood mast which is a bit heavy, making her a bit tippy when boarding. I've
considered rebuilding it and would advise an aluminum one if available. We mounted the cam cleats
on the outer sheer freeing up the thwart for uncluttered seeting. Highly recommended as we, or the
children, are frequently on the thwart.
It was my first boat building project and it was not difficult. A second pair of hand is frequently
needed especially for fitting pieces.
