It does sound like a neat idea, but where? I know from experience (I just founded a camera club in rural St Mary's County MD) that people don't travel very far for something new and untested.
It would probably be best to get involved with a museum like Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum or Mystic Seaport Museum and talk them into holding lectures at their big woodenboat and classic boat shows. That way, you'd already have a big crowd and all the advertising. Unfortunately, I'm overloaded with camera club and house & boat projects of my own. No time for another adventure!
