: I have been using West Epoxy, with the fast hardener. I have been working in my basment, temperature about 60 plus, applying the epoxy to various boat parts. I plan to do the final assembly in summer. I have been very careful to mix the resin and hardener in 1 to 1 portions. After two weeks the surface still feels soft and slightly sticky. Does anyone have any suggestions?
: One thing I am trying is to put the parts in an enclosed area with an electric heater to raise the temperature to about 85- 90 degrees.
Mel, if you can dent the suspect epoxy with your finger nail then there is a cure problem. If you have been acurate in your measurements then I would suspect you haven't mixed it thouroughly. If the epoxy is hard but just feels "sticky" it is the amine blush that can be easily washed off using water and a scotch pad (you can get them at any grocery store near the dish detergent.)
