I am interested in building a dory that can be outfitted with a 20 hp outboard - long shaft. I like the look of the Sweet Caroline but the design calls for minor modifications if using a long shaft. What kind of modifications are we talking about? Does anyone have any experience with this matter? Is it possible to hang the outbaord off the transom in order to make the craft a bit more roomier or will this drastically affect the handling characteristics? I would also like to know if any other designs are available for similar dory designs in the 18 to 20 foot range.
