I installed a 40 h.p. Mercury longshaft on my Console Skiff. I used the cutout on the transom plans, and my engine height was just right. A couple of tips: Drill your steering cable hole in the motorwell side before you bolt on the engine. Trying to do so afterward is EXTREMELY difficult (the voice of experience!). Also, with my engine, I had to make and reinforce a cutout on the opposite motorwell side and aft deck to give the steering rod and cable full travel.
