: At my local lumber yard they do not sale Oak, Mahogany, or spruce. Can I use Pine for the frameing in the TNT, are should I order the frameing kit from Glen-L? I will be encapsulating the whole frame, and plywood, and fiberglassing the bottom, sides, and transom. Thank you for any information that you can give me.

John, I have not seen pine recommended for marine applications. I suspect that the rosin that pine tends to bleed would have an adverse effect on any encapsulation. Also the Glen-L frame kit for my Tango saved me several weeks of work. In my opinion the frame kits are worth the money. Check the customer photos archives under Tango for pictures of my Tango.
