Don't know what to tell you. I've just checked Steward's Boatbuilding Manual and he does not say anything about the buildup of acid. Oak is I believe, a high acid wood to begin with. It seems that this would be a problem with cheap fastners rather than glue. So it sounds like silicon bronze is in order. What part of the boat are you using oak for?
