I'm also building a console skiff and have a Suzuki 60hp to put on it. I can't really say from an "expert" standpoint that it will be ok but I have a crazy friend who put an 80hp Merc on his 14' aluminum jon boat. It worked, but it was scary fast. I have a stabilizer fin on the lower unit to hopefully prevent porpoising of the bow. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm probably three months from finishing the boat.
