: My plans for the Glen-L Outrage have me screwing the bottom planking (forward) into the stem which is 2 lams of 3/4" ply. Can a screw really "bite" into the ply on the edge and result in a good hold?

My Double Eagle had me thinking the same thing for awhile, but I noticed that I am screwing into the ply at a angle, not really into the end grain. Going in at about a 45 angle is OK, but not to go dead straight into the end grain.
Maybe the Glen-L support can help explain this better, I think this is in their book.
