When I said comercial boat, I was talking about Searay, Larson, ect. I agree that the motor does not know what it is driving. I have never shoped for or even looked at marine transmissions. so I don't know what ratios are avalivable. I did do the math on the Rocketek 233 H.P. V6 and it is 235 ft. pounds of torque.

: : You are probably right. I have seen the v6's used in twin screw comercial boats, but I have not seen them in a inboard application, only outdrive set-ups. (newer models)
: Well then it is seen that V6 is used in a commercial application, that is harder work than pleasurecraft. An engine dont know if it is driving a sterndrive nor inboard. There is a formula for torque; HPx5252 divided by RPM=torque.
: 4 bolt mains aint got a damn thing to do with torque. If a truck engine has a longer stroke, OK, then the RPM goes lower resulting in more torque. (apply the math in the formula)
: Gear ratio shouldnt change from whatever ratio the original 283/327 used, remember this conversation is about the EFI V6 able to do what the 283/327 used to do, and do it lighter and more fuel efficient.
: I am not trying to compare a 262 V6 to a tall block 427 truck engine, I am only suggesting that the EFI V6 does all that a 327 did, and the original Mahogany runabouts had straight-6 flatheads, and later had the small block Chevys. (283/327's)
