It looks very similar overal to the Palmer Jonson 30 that I crewed on for 10 years. We "only" raced and cruised on Lake Michigan. The same boat had done several atlantic crossings as well as several Queens cups (think lake michigan lengthwise).
With proper constuction, rigging and experience, it should be fine. The more applicable question is as a skipper are -you- ready. Even with a substantial boat such as this, much rests on the skipper. A 30 footer in big seas and big air is really interesting. My experience is limited to a few days at atime, not weeks or months.
Overall, the Lord Nelson in blue water sounds like great fun.
