I've built with all three. Glassed DF hasn't (can't?)checked and I wouldn't build a plywood boat without an FG sheath. The meranti and okoume I've used aren't overly brittle and bend nicely. The mahogany-like grain and color make them very appealing for brightwork but if you're going to paint there's not much advantage to them I know of. About six months ago I launched a Glen-L Utility finished bright in meranti. Looks great. Meranti usually costs about 20% less than okoume but also weighs about 20% more so if you want light weight go for the okoume.
