All of that I have thought of, that's why the design of the trebuchet is centered completely around keeping it stable and the fact its on water. Most of the problems with water and rocking bow to stern is fixed with a swinging hinge so the counter weight drops directly down instead of out and down. Swinging about the center of mass of the entire system. Thanks for the input, I never thought of anchoring, I'll have to look into that.

: The efficientcy of the machine would be greatly reduced by being on a soft surface. A long moment would probably help. Enclose the hull on both ends to prevent the launch from sinking the craft. A considerable ballast would also help stabelize the craft. Anchoring would be another crucial factor... unless you are shooting and retreating at the same time.
