I used a piece of tempered hardboard for a visor for my tug boat. The reason was for the flexibility so I could wrap it around the cabin with a particular angle to it. I scuffed it up prior to glassing/epoxy...and it appears to be holding fine. But the key is: it is only aesthetics and not a structural addition.
