Thanks for the info, just to be curious, I will look into the sites you suggest and see what I come up with. I was able to get a good deal on a lightly used 4 stroke Mercury 15 that is set up for remote and electric start so thats what will be doing the pushing..

And as you stated, I can always govern the thing :-)!

: If you want to be scientific about it, there are many ways to calculate boat speed and horsepower required for a desired speed, given a specific hull and propeller. I would suggest starting with this web site

In addition, there is a well known equation that is based on a hull factor that changes with respect to a displacment or planing hull, length of boat, horsepower and propeller that will give you a speed calculation, but I can;t remember where I saw it and have not seen it on the web. Perhaps someone else can help here.

: Otherwise, just mount a 15 or 20 horse on that sucker and put a governor on it when the kids are driving........
