The notes section of the catalog listing on the web suggests to use an outboard hung rudder and a shallow oil pan. This allows you to move the strut a little farther aft for better shaft angle.
Also a modern V6 is shorter than V8, and a new modern V6 will likely make the power that the original V8's did when this design was originated.
