: Hi Ken, I know all of these. For the bancas using Isuzu engines, no marinishing happen. Cooling system is raw sea water through water pick-ups. For small bancas using briggs or honda, no marinishing since those engines are air cooled. Briggs is definitely not workable for my 19' wanderlust.

: I am planning to use a 115 HP nissan sr-20 high performance engine, petrol. It will be coupled to a jet pump with 7.5" impeller.

: I am soliciting ideas on how to marinized this engine for safety reasons.

: ENGINE Information. All Aluminium, 1.8 or 2.0 litre, DOHC, 16 valve intercooled turbo, in-line,
: 4 cylinder, with Nissan Variable Valve Timing Control System. (NVCS)Induction Turbocharged, ECCS, electronic fuel injection control; Emission Control 3 way catalytic converter; Ignition System Nissan Direct Ignition System; Battery 12 volt maintenance free

The marinizing process involves water-cooled exhaust manifolds to keep bilge temps down. Water-cooled heat exchanger to keep engine coolant cool and seperate raw water from cooling water. Also a thrust bearing to utilize the thrust of the prop, it must be on a thrust bearing or else you will push the crankshaft out of alignment with the rods/mains. thrust bearing is in the marine tranny, or a separate external bearing. Then you got all the plumbing for the raw wate pump and manifold. The circulating (engine water pump) pump is also made of noncorrosive metal. (bronze)
