ok first off im going agaist what every 1 said for one reason, its worthless!
unless your boat sites really low and you need it.. all it does it take up space, if you cut it out and glass it closed the transom is ALOT stronger b/c its pulling on the WHOLE deck of the boat rather then 2 little parts where the splaswell curves (which is where cracks originate)
i did this on my boat (14ft hydrostream vixen with a 70hp omc) and it helps a bunch! theres alot more room under the deck in the back, the boat looks better, and the transom is stronger.
o yea b4 i 4get, add a brace on each side of the splashwell after its glassed over to fully tie everything together.
you may need to watch out when you slow down to fast to keep water from comming in the boat though.
