: I would like to build a Riviera, that style of boat just captures my imagination. My question is, should I start smaller? I have never built a boat before. I am a machinist by trade but wood is all new to me. Also what three tools can't I live without? (ex. band saw, tablesaw, planer)

I love that boat!!! I have built 3 diff. Glen-l boats... The plans really are easy to read and the instruction easy to follow... As a machinist you should be able to handle the blue prints just fine... tools:
I found that I have collected more darn tools than I ever thought I would own - I think you'll find that you will end up buying "the right tool for the job" - there's a bunch of them... In inboard engine should be a breeze for you too. I say go for it - you'll have a BLAST !!!
