Philip, I'm building a "tuffy", a 13 foot runabout, I live in Co. Monaghan. I've just got the mahogany for my frames from a local joinery and it cost me 315 euro, planed and all.
I would suggest you try the local joineries who make doors and windows because they buy 1 inch mahogany by the pallet-load! If they won't machine it for you or it would cost too much, how about contacting your local woodwork teacher, he might let you use the planer in the school....
I'm using mahogany for the frames and exterior ply for the sheeting (due to the crazy price of marine ply)
You can get West Systems Epoxy from Waller & Wickham in Dublin at a 10% discount if you ask for it, their number is 01 8392330

: started building pee wee and (i'm in N Ireland) been to 4 places to try and purchase mahogany for frames etc but each time i get told no too dear or needs to be machined. None of the 4 would even give me a quote just told me i was mad just buy a boat!
: Could i use exterior or marine ply for some or all of these pieces + epoxy? or am i just being silly?
