: I am just finishing up a Tiny Titan (an 8'- 3 point Hydroplane)for my son.
: Does anyone remember the rooster tails that sprayed a stream of water up onto the air from the transom of speed boats. Was this a part that can be bought or was it home made.

A hydroplane is a hull that utilizes a prop-riding concept. The transom is really up out of the water when hull is up to speed. The prop is only half in the water and on a hydro with a 2 blade prop, and running on relatively smooth water, you can see the blades of the prop causing breaks in the 'rooster tail'. Modern hydros with 3 blade props do not show this effect as much as the older 2 blade rigs. The rooster tail is a after-effect of using a prop riding hull form.
