The wedge idea sounds good. I would apply them to the portions that were added to the hull on each side of the motor.

Is it possible to make up the wedges and then apply them to the hull with double stick tape (e.g. fiberglass carpet tape)? I suppose the leading edge would need some cloth or metal tape (duct tape) to prevent water pressure from peeling the wedge off. Teh rear of the wedge would need to be flush with the rear of the hull (and crisp).
Are there any pitfalls to the more temporary approach?
