Eric, If you don't already have it, get "Boat Building With Plywood" from Glen-L. Also check out some of the construction photos in the Customer Photos section. The set sent in by Neal Gaughan on his Bass Boat give a good view of bending the forward battens. I did much the same on mine, hooks in the ends and then pulled them down with cords or turnbuckles or whatever to get them in position to fasten to the hull.
